Northville is one of those places that quickly becomes part of you, and you a part of it.  The next few years will be critical to the future of Northville.  I want the conversations we are having today become a reality tomorrow.

We must invest in our community spaces.  We must make our plans for Ford Field a reality. An enhanced Ford Field will be a community gathering point for years to come. This includes improving the baseball diamond, creating a new gateway/park entrance, updating the playscape, adding bathrooms, a pavilion, gardens, stabilizing the river bank, and enhanced walkways and lighting.  Over the last four years we have invested in Fish Hatchery Park, approved a new park at Our Lady of Victory, and restored South Main Park.  In the coming months we will daylight the Rouge River and open a new 13 acre River Park.  We will also open Ford Field East and add a new Central Park within the Downs Development.

Earlier this year we purchased and opened the new location for the Northville Farmer's Market.  We should continue to invest in this space (and seek grants!) working toward an indoor / outdoor event space that serves as a trail head for the River Walk.

I believe Northville should continue to grow while being true to who we are.  Northville has a rich history and we must maintain our city’s identity while supporting new development.  The Downs project is going to have a dynamic impact on Northville.  We need to make sure we are considering the impact on schools, traffic, parking, green space, our business district and the day to day lives of the citizens of Northville.  We must work toward a south bound exit out of the Downs (Griswold extension over Johnson Creek).  This will reduce traffic flowing on to Center Street and into the Bealtown neighborhood.

I will support our thriving downtown.  We need to support our local business owners as they continue to invest in our downtown.  Let's make it as easy as possible for our businesses to grow and succeed.

We must plan for the future.  We are so fortunate to live in a historic community, but historic towns come with historic infrastructure.  We must prioritize investments in our roads, sidewalks, and water infrastructure.  Since 2023 we have invested $4.8M in road and sidewalk repairs.  Earlier this year we initiated a water infrastructure and street improvement program that will include more than $24M in infrastructure improvements.

I believe the fiscal health of our city is our number one responsibility.  During the last four years we fully funded our Retiree Health Care (120%+), increased our Pension Fund from 77% to 116% (fully funded at 120%), increased our General Fund from 26% to 30% (AAA Target), and achieved the City's first ever AAA Bond Rating!  In the coming year we need to investment in our Pension Fund and raise the total from 116% to a fully funded 120%.  This will result in an additional $1M in annual cash flow for the city going forward!

I believe in transparent, interactive government.  Northville should welcome all citizens who would like to get involved to improve our city.  I promise that I will always be available to discuss current issues, gather feedback and make sure we are proactively responding to the needs of the community.
