I am a Northville resident and father of three. I attended the University of Michigan for undergrad (BBA) and went on to obtain master's degrees from The University of Notre Dame (MSA) and Duke University (MBA). Born and raised in Michigan, I met my wife a few miles down the road in Chelsea. We moved to Northville over a decade ago to be closer to my wife's parents. Years later we would discover that my late father was part of the 1947 kindergarten class at the Old Village School located a few doors down from our home on Main Street. We now have three generations living in Northville and Northville Township.
I started my career in Chicago as part of the Management Consulting practice at Ernst & Young, LLP where I focused primarily on Finance and Technology Enablement. My love of the automotive industry (paired with the desire to be closer to family) quickly brought us back to the great state of Michigan. I now serve as the Great Lakes Energy and Natural Resources Industry Leader at Slalom Consulting supporting leading utility companies as they navigate an ever evolving industry with complex strategy, business operations, and technology initiatives.
Upon moving to Northville I quickly became engaged in the Northville Community. I am an active runner and cyclist, a member of the Northville Running Club, and I serve as an Assistant Coach for my children's Middle School and High School track and cross country teams. I served as the Director of Finance (2010-2013), Elder (2012 to 2015), and President of the nonprofit (2013 to 2015) at the First Presbyterian Church of Northville. I then got involved with the city, serving on the Northville Economic Development Committee (2018-present), Ford Field Task Force / Rouge River Restoration Task Force (2020-Present) and Northville Sustainability Team (2021-Present). In 2021, I was elected to the Northville City Council and became a member of the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (2021 - Present), Housing Commission (2021 - Present), and the Bicentennial Task Force (2024 - Present). Over the past four years, I have become increasingly passionate about doing everything I can to support our residents, local businesses, and our incredible parks. I have been able to have a direct impact on the city's financials (first ever AAA Bond Rating!), the 13 Acre River Park (coming soon!), the exciting plans for the future of Ford Field, and significant updates for our residents at Allen Terrace. As a parent I want to make sure each decision made will contribute to a Northville community that will thrive for generations to come.
This past winter we formed the Declan Carter Foundation following the passing of my son, Declan. I am proud to serve as the President of the foundation. The Declan Carter Foundation's mission is to celebrate Declan's life by supporting athletics, academics, and healthy living for the youth in and around our community. Our first project is to help the city raise funds to build an accessible playground at Ford Field. To date we have raised $78K toward the Ford Field Playground Project.
